Already a recipient of multiple awards and recognitions, including being named to the “Most Exciting Cars of 2010” list by TIME.com, given a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and named to AutoWeek magazine’s “10 Great and Safe Rides for Teens” list, The Active Network, Inc. spotlighted Soul for its versatility, ability to meet the needs of an active lifestyle and overall value.

Year to date sales totaled 238,570, a 4.6-percent increase over the same period last year. September sales were led by the Kia Optima midsize sedan and all-new Forte compact sedan, selling 5,986 and 4,449 units respectively. The all-new Soul urban passenger vehicle and Rio subcompact also sold well, with 2,459 and 2,811 units.

“Consumer confidence in the Kia brand is on the rise, and on the heels of an all-time record sales month in August we continue our momentum by achieving the best sales quarter in company history,” said Alex Fedorak, director of public relations, KMA. “New designs, like the highly styled and personalized Soul, Forte compact sedan and Forte Koup, are appealing to a larger consumer audience while staying true to our brand’s core pillars of value, safety and fuel efficiency.”

August Sales of 40,198 Units Shatter Previous All-Time Record
IRVINE, Calif., September 1, 2009 – Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced all-time record monthly sales of 40,198 in August, up 37 percent over July and 60.4 percent year over year from August 2008. Offering an array of standard technology features, the highly stylized and popular all-new 2010 Soul urban passenger vehicle and all-new 2010 Forte compact sedan helped attract buyers to the brand, as did an increase in foot traffic through dealerships nationwide due in part to the government-sponsored C.A.R.S. program. August sales were led by the Kia Sportage and Kia Optima, selling 7,558 and 7,461 units respectively.

“Our relative market share increase tied to the vehicles included in the C.A.R.S. program is among the top three brands in the industry,” said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales, KMA.

Kia Motors is in the midst of a dramatic, design-led transformation, which has been delivering dynamically styled vehicles in several important segments at exactly the right time. The all-new 2010 Forte and Forte Koup, which replaced the Spectra, Kia’s best-selling model, further reinforces the design revolution brought on by the all-new, award-winning 2010 Soul urban passenger vehicle. The Soul began changing consumer perception of Kia as soon as it arrived in showrooms this spring, from a brand known for delivering safe and fuel efficient vehicles at a tremendous value to one now combining those attributes with modern technologies and eye-catching design. Desert of Kia of Tucson offers 11 models that are qualified for the U.S. Govenment’s Car Allowance Rebate System, otherwise called “Cash for Clunkers“.   The program kicks off on or before July 24th 2009 and expires November 1st 2009.  Consumers who trade a qualifying vehicle for a more fuel efficient  New Kia are offered vouchers up to $4500 through registered dealerships.    Desert Kia is a registered dealership for the CARS program.

Last week, a Kia Motors America representative stopped into Desert Kia of Tucson with an early production model of the all new 2010 Kia Forte.  All our dealership’s staff had a chance to inspect this new Forte (pronounced four-tay), and everyone came away very impressed with Kia’s newest sedan.  The Forte features the quality and features everyone has come to expect, plus some class-leading features:  Bluetooth hands free capability, Ipod USB / MP3 Input jacks, and much more! 

We anticipate seeing at least one each of the three trim levels (LX, EX, and SX) arrive at our dealership by the end of June!
